November Days of Gratitude: A blogging commitment

I just noticed that my little blog has 100 followers.  100!  I know . . . some of you are thinking, seriously? She’s excited about 100 followers?

I remember when I taught first grade we would count the days until the 100th day of school.  It was a big deal for a big number.  100 pennies makes a dollar.  Living to 100 warrants a fabulous party. So I kind of feel I should celebrate . . . just a tiny bit.

In these days of social media, when teenagers can brag about their Instagram followers in the thousands (seriously?), 100 might not seem like a lot.  But when you’re a beginning blogger with only a commitment to think and to write, 100 followers — people I do not know — feels a little wild! I’m not sure why you pressed “follow” but I feel very grateful that you did.

So thank you WordPress and “followers” — I hope that I write words that matter, even in some small way.

I understand how you feel. If I ever was to hit 100 followers, it would be beyond what I ever expected. I was happy when I reached 10 😄
